    anyone know a good free program that I can use to help reduce the quality of an avi file?

    a really good program to use is TMPGEnc. http://www.tmpgenc.net/

    for some things you just want to have them, and you don't need it at high quality. I'm using that program to reduce a bunch of buffy episodes down from 300mb to 80 or so. if you need a guide for that program check out www.dvdrhelp.com, they have some how-to guides there specifically for that program.
