scene for everything normally, scene rules can be a bit bogus at times with the nukes and such, but for me the rip rules they have etc. mean the quality of tv, x264 and mp3 are alot better

The music I grab is usually almost always 100% non scene.
Then I get a few non scene films here and here.
Then some scene(usually) games and tv.

So I would say probably 90% or more of what I download is non scene.

Yes, for instance 720p BluRay rips are usually 1DVD size. Animations are usually well below ~2GB

It seems like people get the content they really care about in non-scene flavour. That's because scene releases are generally preview quality.

Ofc, these releases get spread out to other sites, but I find it nice to be able to thank the guys who did the work, personally.

Maybe it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's kinda like homemade cookies vs store bought. It's nice to know [whatever it was] was made for you.
I presume you're referring to the non-scene groups that releases there.
A couple of other, smaller sites concentrate even more on that than T-Leech. You're right. Don't forget about them.

movies: 50-50; my CG download are all non-scene
music: 60-40 in favor of non-scene
    apps: mostly scene
elearning: scene groups don't do much of this; mostly non-scene.

it does matter (for me at least) since 98% of scene releases are crappy mainstream films.

they are both, but the specific size regulates the quality, along with certain codecs and the quality of the audio.

keeping the file size up makes sure that a dvd of a certain length is not ripped to 1 cd in size making the quality suffer.

thats why say a 1h30min film could be ripped to 1 cd but when you get to i think its about 1h40-50 mins it will jump to 2 cd.

you often see non-scene groups ripping them to 1cd to make downloading them easier but for me the quality suffers.

Uhm, I know that's your opinion, but not all mainstream films are crappy, IMO. As long as you're not DLing the latest movies only, there's a whole lot of great mainstream movies.
I'm back. The downside is that I'm also old now.
