Everyone is telling me how great HL2 Beta is but I can't get it to work. I have extracted all the files and everything. I get into the main menu and it's working fine, but if I go into the console by "~", and I try to type "maps" or "map dl_town_01" it crashs, because I type "map" and then when I hit the spacebar it crashes. Or when I go into Options after like 30 seconds it crashes. Someone please help me!!! I have even tried the beta patch, and that didn't work either. HELP!!!!

it's incomplete and buggy.
blame it on the guy who stole valve's codes, otherwise we'd be playing the good version by now

can u tell us ur system spec so we can help... i think it could be your pc that is the problem but i could be wrong.
Minimum system requirements:
Windows98/2000/Me/XP
700 MHz CPU
128 MB RAM
DX6 compatible video card
3 GB free hdd space
