Thread: Cd-rw Drive Very Slow...help Please

  1. #1
in the last few days, my cd-rw drive has become painfully slow.
at the moment, it's taking approx 10 minutes to burn a 650MB data disc and about the same amount of time for an audio disc.
when i try to burn my drive is showing a flashing red and orange led on the front (usually it's a solid red led)
also, approx 95MB of ram is used by the respective burning apps and the computers becomes very unresponsive

i've tried nero (5.5 and 6) and alcohol 120% and they both show exactly the same signs

i haven't changed any hardware and/or relevant software lately, so i'm puzzled as to why this problem has arisen

i've tried uninstalling ans reinstalling drivers for the cd-rw drive with no success

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated...

my drive is a Lite-On 52/24/52 CD-RW, running Windows XP

Something similar happened to me too. It would take almost 3 times as long to burn a cd Reformatting the computer fixed it though...
