Nah, only joking
I think in effect the UK is unique in that you won't experience so many accents in such a small area. I mean not that far from here you have a Manc accent (though pretty indistinctable to the untrained ear), you've got the Geordies further east, you have Birmingham down to the south and nearby to the north Preston & Blackpool.
Then you have the Scots, the Welsh, the Irish...I've let a non-English Brit sort them out

I was born up in rural Aberdeenshire and raised in the Islands (Orkney) and Highlands (Oban). My colleagues, in their more genial moments, call me a Teuchter - which I can live with.![]()
I have a relatively soft lilt compared to my erstwhile city dwelling compatriots.

The accent thing in the UK is amazing - changes wildly from town to town. Once had a girl from Wolverhampton work for me. She was absolutely stunning and had an accent that could cut metal from 50 yards. I was torn between enjoying the radiance of her physical appearance and sunny personality and a desperate desire to wear ear defenders.

Can you immitate a North American accent? Would it be easy or hard to do. Also, can you do Brooklin and "Southern" accents? Benny Hill did that pretty good.Originally posted by gemby!@13 October 2003 - 18:14

Oh, and can you do "ebonics"? Or is that exactly the same in London? "The universal English Language".
