  1. #1
Is there a DOS add on for windows xp out there I have all the updates but some of my old porn games still won't work when I had windows 98 they would restart to run on DOS but now instead of the games running on top of xp I get a purple flashing screen.

your dos for xp is your command prompt under start>all programs>accessories>cmd prompt

if you want dos you have to partition and just install dos on it

NT/2000/XP's DOS emulation sort of works, and it sort of doesn't. it can run simple applications, but anything that needs sound is really iffy.

try DOSBox, it's a fairly successful attempt at making a proper DOS emulator-- http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1

for some of the more popular DOS games, i would google around and see if any amateur programmers have tried converting them to Windows though. some of them are almost exactly the same as the originals, and some are slightly improved (for example there are a couple of openGL-accelerated Wolfenstein 3Ds which look a little bit better than the original).

are you using WinXP? have you tried running the program under Win98 compatibility mode?
