Thread: Ack...stupid "generic Host Process" Error!

  1. #1
    I keep getting this error:

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    szAppName : svchost.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll
    szModVer : 5.1.2600.1254 offset : 000018ef

The Technical information for this error report shows this:

The Following files shown will be included in this error report

    [/B]F:\DOCUME~1\Benjamin\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER19.tmp.dir00\svchost.exe.mdmp
    F:\DOCUME~1\Benjamin\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER19.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt[/B]

And NO this isn't the msblast worm or lovesan worm...I've checked with every online scan and my own personal scan with norton corporate AV and they all indicate that no version of either worm is present. The indications of these worms are not present in my registry OR in processes running.

    This is becoming annoying.

Have you asked over @ HardwareWorld?
I've had this problem before I can remeber that error message then again I've had sooo.. many darn problems with my pc I can't remeber how I sorted that one but I know I had it.

Sorry I couldn't be any help
I wasn't going to buy it in the first place, so me downloading it for free isn't losing them any money.

How often do you get the error message?

Try turning off the clock synchonization:

Right click your clock>choose Adjust Date/Time>Click Internet Time tab then remove the checkmark from there, Benjamin.

Thanks for the replies guys...Nikita, I'd already checked out those at the microsoft support centre...and neither of them apply to me and my system. I don't have any HP hardware on my computer and I don't get that flashlight in windows explorer.

Strange thing that happens is that when I get this error...I'm no longer to access my hotmail inbox by right clicking on my msn 6 icon in the taskbar...I click "go to inbox" but nothing happens AND I closed msn 6 to try and reload but now when I click on it in All Programs in the start menu...it doesn't even load up. Nothing happens. Is this indicative of something?

I also noticed that this all started to happen after I installed an anti-porn filter program on my computer called Puresight PC. This program seems to be the best out there so I'd rather NOT have to uninstall it.
