Thread: If .cue & .nfo Files Are Missing?

  1. #1
    Hello pplz

I have a few softwares d/led from kazaa etc. If ".cue & .nfo" files are missing from a prog when downloaded - how does one go about acquiring/making such files (if possible), to burn a fully bootable cd. If this issue has been dealt with before, point me to the link for the answer please.

    thx

if you have the bin you don't need the cue if you have a program like winiso

you can modify one of your other cue files to work with the .bin that you have.
Change the name of the .cue to match the name of the bin (everything should be the same except the extension), then open it
with Notepad. Once there you'll see something like this:

    Code:
    FILE "Symantec.Ghost.8.0.Corporate-SoSISO.ShareReactor.bin" BINARY
      TRACK 01 MODE2/2352
        INDEX 01 00:00:00
Just change the file name that's in brackets to the EXACT name of your .bin file.
save and close. Now it points to the correct bin.

This works 9 times out of 10. As for the nfo's, they're generally just extra installation instructions or serial numbers.
ShareReactor has started making the nfo files on it's releases available for viewing without actually download them with an ed2k
client, so you might try there if it's a recent release.
If not, just tell us what it is, maybe somebody's got the nfo lying around. I know I save all mine, just in case...

So basically check all sectors for errors then it ready to be burned correct?

This is weird. Usually PC CD-ROM images are MODE1/2352 not MODE2/2352.
MODE2 is usually for Playstation 1 and 2 and (S)VCD images.
But I guess it can happen sometimes.

To be sure what mode should be written in the .CUE, open your .BIN file with CDmage. It will show in the left window whether it's MODE1 or MODE2.

There is a program named MakeCue on suprnova.org I think still if the way above is too "Hard" for u. Also u don't really need a .nfo that's just the info on what to do. Then again as I think u might need it. You only need a .cue if u are going to burn to cd which I recommend.
