The piece of software which was once the number 1 backup tool for copy protected CD's is back after moving to Antigua. CloneCD fell behind after a very long time without updates and then the announcement that the new European Copyright Directive would make the software illegal. Elby then sold it to Slysoft their partner is Antigua (no pesky laws there) and we now finally after over a year have an update which adds the ability to copy Safedisc 2.9 CD's.

However many existing customers are not happy as Elby never stopped selling CloneCD right up to the transfer and Elbys free future updates plan does not seem to have transferred over with all but the most recent of customers being told to pay for the full version by Slysoft. Still Slysoft have been very busy updating their existing AnyDVD software so I would wait and see if they apply that same vigour to CloneCD.

I've said it once and I'll say it again:
It's good to see the sheep is back, but it still needs work if it wants to keep up with Alcohol 120% and BlindWrite.
