Requiem for a dream. There's something about the atmosphere and cinematography that makes me feel this is so much more than a movie.

    And anything in between?

Mines would have to be either Braveheart, Pan's Labyrinth or Shawshank

Interesting concept... 'Innocent' Nazi's stuck in a jail? Not sure how that would come off right enough...

It would be a buddy film. At the end, a Polish Jew and Mengele would end up on an island off of Brazil.

On topic... Modern film: Usual Suspects; Classic film: Giant

So sort of Papillon Meets Marathon Man which in hindsight makes wonder whatever happened to Dustin Hoffman's career? Being dead at least gives Sir Lawrence Olivier and Steve McQueen some excuse to fall back on.
Btw little known fact. They tried to remake the classic car chase from Bullit in present day San Francisco but finally gave up when they found they couldn't find any way to edit 2 hours of being stuck in traffic to seem exciting.
Having to do with this topic, absolutely nothing.Amount that I particularly care, ditto.

Off Topic: That actually made me laugh there...

On Topic: Papillon... totally forgot about that, another classic film.
