Thread: TOR without TOR browser, and JAP?

  1. #11
    Thank you for that tutorial!

Here's some questions if anyone could answer?

I'm slow at learning, obviously. I'm sorry, but the truth is I don't like to make it hard on people. I don't like to be made fun for not being to follow something.

I was reading online that what the workaround I'm looking for would be DNS blocking. They recommended in the article to use a Firefox add-on called DeSOPA. I was originally searching for the bypass for 7/1/12, and I saw that article.

    1.) Will DeSOPA work?

    2.) Is it worth it?

3.) Or there be a better DNS blocking workaround out there?

That's something else. DNS blocking is not a measure used by the user (edit:that's incorrect. It can be used intentionally to block websites like porn or ad suppliers using the hosts file) or a measure you want to have. It's something ISPs can implement.
If your ISP/country uses DNS blocking that's where Tor could come into play.
Actually I got lost a little bit. What is it you want to achieve?

Use name servers from countries where SOPA isn't a problem.

Netherlands? That's my first country response. Where do I get those name servers from. I believe that's SOPA has not hit the Netherlands, right? I believe it's the safest country, right? It's the only one that came to my mind.

Would it be better to use Tor on default settings to bypass the anti privacy? Or would it be better off finding an out of country name server?

I wouldn't even know where to find out of country name servers.

anon, on that link you gave, how do I setup those name servers?

Obviously, you want to use the IPs I gave you instead.

anon just gave you a list.. ? You have to configure your OS to use those servers or your router.
    What OS are you on?
    There's also OpenDNS.

How do I configure it for my OS?

I'm on a Windows 7 Home Premium Anytime Upgrade, and that is a 32-bit OS, and not 64-bit. I don't have a router. I have a DSL modem from my ISP without the router.

I would like to use that list? Or if it doesn't work then how do I configure OpenDNS?

It's right there, in the sevenforums.com link.

    Alright, I noticed that. Sorry.

Will this still us be able to download from torrents such as Demonoid without any legal actions taken place?

Also, I have one site that anon gave me with IP addresses, and the other was a tutorial for setting it. I just want to make sure I am doing this right, so what exact IP addresses am I taken from the first site to plug into the DNS fields, and then I could follow on with the rest of the tutorial?

I am looking for a short answer. Will this DNS method be the way to go? Or do we still need Tor?

No. It'll only evade any DNS blocks, which is what you first asked about.
