All of this is really amazing. Thank you for sharing.

What is "trac" useful for? I can't think of anything I'd use it for.

With a billion sites parked on the World Wide Web, making your website noticeable can be really difficult. The worst case scenario is it wouldn’t ever get noticed.
Needless to say, you need some internet attention and we are here to help you out. Read on because we have five simple ways to attract internet users into clicking to your site.
    1.) Make it professional looking.
People are often lazy they come with a website that’s all text and buttons. It’s as if they were reading a book report way back in high school so avoid making this mistake. Design a website that totally catches their attention. What you need to do is to invest in learning web design program (Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage should do the job), and explore to bring out your creative side. Make your website well-organized and comprehensive. Put yourself in the shoes of your users. They don’t want to waste their time clicking buttons and links just to end up in a fruitless search. Include important information and make sure to prioritize them. Always aim for a good user-experience. Satisfy their need for quality information.
Also, don’t make your site heavy. Placing some welcome banner using flash animation is great but this can slow down the page. Whenever possible make loading of images fast enough. Keep this in mind; the average internet surfer only waits 10 seconds for a page to load. If it takes longer than that, they will leave the page.

2.) Put your URL on every search engine possible.
If you think putting your URL in a business card or asking some help from your family and friends will help increase traffic, you’re wrong. The most effective thing to do is to submit it into search engines so people can easily find you. Of course your webpage must have the topics they are looking for. A brief explanation about the function of Search engines, it works like a spider crawling trhough your website, searching and picking up relevant words and information to index in its database. Put relevant keywords that are commonly searched by people. You can submit your website to web directories like Yahoo!, who, categorize websites.
However, if you don’t like submitting to web directories, you could always subscribe to sites like www.submit-it.com that automatically submit your website to directories and search engines for a small fee.

    3.) Place your links everywhere
The internet is full of websites that have contents similar to yours. Find one and ask them to exchange links with you. You’ll both benefit from one another if you do this. Offer a bargain to other site owners and let them put banners on your website for advertisement and vice versa. Include your URL on your e-mail signature for easy recognition. Better yet, join webrings.

    4.) Advertise in simpler ways.
Don’t be bounded in the world of cyberspace if you want to get noticed. Find simple ways to advertise. Utilize the power of printed media to introduce your site to the public. Newspapers and magazines have been know as an effective carrier of advertisement so write up press releases and submit it to them. A more common way to advertise is thru distributing of fliers. Just see to it that your website is already established. What people read in a piece of paper must be the same with your website when they check it out.

5.) Show interaction to your visitors
Let your visitors know you’re always there. Provide message box and forums for them to interact with each other and also with you. Unlike chat rooms, message boards allow your visitors to check their messages for replies. Organize an e-mail list so you can message your visitors and update them about the sites new developments. And the most important of all, always be open to feedback—they like to be heard and answered right away. This will make your site even better.
