thnking about adding another partition to my hdd
main reason is cause i'm thinking about reinstalling photoshop
(during install, or first run of prog, cant remember, it says
something about being on the same physical drive as the primary
paging file (or something like that) may cause performance probs)

am i on the right track? or do i need to go a different route?
and i remember reading bout alcohol 120 being able to manage
virtual drives, could that be the way to go?
or will reformatting hard drive let me do it?
i'm in the dark , any help appreciated

i got 100 gigs to mess with...
    (OS is xp home)

or should this be in hardware world?

first up, you wont have to re-install photoshop. you can go to 'Edit' menu, Preferences' - 'Plugins and Scratch Disks' + 'Memory and Image Cache' - thats where you control how your system uses its resources for photoshop.

you can get 'Partition Magic' from dredwerkz

    I recommend Partition Magic too.
I think it's still available from Fosi.

That program and Norton Ghost I consider to be "must have" software.

whats up with that anti-leech plugin at dw?

it doesnt have ad / spyware etc - it adds a folder to 'prog files' with a couple of .dll's, you can delete it when you get what you need then if you have to go back then just install it again

dont install the 'netpumper' tho' as i read that does have spyware

    or go to fosi

No. Adding a partition or virtual drive isnt going to do anything for you.

It's still the same "physical drive". Using the same heads and platters.

If you have a slave drive, then put it on that one. Then you might see a slight improvement.

If you can't I wouldn't bother about it. It's not worth spending any money for the small return.
