The last series of Supernatural was a little ropey. I quit watching it half way through and haven't picked it back up yet, but it's always been pretty decent up to then.
I guess if I was a purist, I would say Supernatural peaked at the conclusion of series four and should have ended there, on a high, as it were. But, well, I'm not.

I've never seen him in anything else. I watch Supernatural with teh missus, who is obviously a Sam fan and is completely blind to the fact that Jared Padalecki only has two facial expressions; not very happy and not very sad. Dean on the other hand I think could possibly act his way out of a wet paper bag and I wouldn't mind seeing him make the transition to an action movie or something.
Altho' Ari Gold said once this is very unlikely to happen. So meh.

Actually a couple years ago they coincidentally both starred horror movies released around the same time (Jensen Ackles -My Bloody Valentine .Jared Padalecki - Friday the 13th reboot) and when I wrote a review of the latter I wrote" of the two who'd have thought Sam would turn out to be the better actor" or words to that effect.
Btw Ackles has been in quite a few previous series usually playing an asshole.
Also who's Ari Gold?
