Use your hands, heart, and mind to bend the skeletons of the past into beauty for now -- for today. Sing songs in the key of sublime, learn to create from the dust, and the fading light. Don't use your eyes, until you feel what you're about to build.

Touch everything. Touch is the most important sense/thing in the world. It's the rough/soft hands of your father who spent his life taking care of his family, regardless of his trade/title. It's the caress of your mother and the wrapping of her arms around everything, it's holding the hand of your little brother as you walk him home, after he got beat up for being different.

Art is not a slap across the face because your grandfather hated you; art is not torture, war or the subjugation of the weak. Art is not vain women wearing shiny rocks -- given to them by weak men, who only feel good when they acquire more paper. Art is not just muted colors and fucking antique frames. Art is kissing and shitty, grainy black and whites; taken with cameras that were as sharp as a butter knife, Art is waiting hours for the right shot and then missing it ... and still coming back the next night with hope in your heart. Art is poems written in the dark, while drunk and melancholy. Art is saying no to those who want to hurt and hate. Art is a joint, scotch, a pen and paper. Art is telling the truth with your heart and not your lips. Art is doing it your way.
