    torrents are still heavy....but grabbing the wrong one can be problematic in a few ways... i still get e-mails from comcast from a torrent my wife downloaded like 3 years ago.... that was before i found newsgroups etc... just be careful

    Obviously a VPN is mandatory (even if you're not torrenting I'd say).
    And a good one, not one like VyprVPN which will sell you out to DMCA boys.

    VPn is not mandatory at all. Private sites used with updated IP filters are. Ive never received a notice from my ISP.

    We were talking about open sites.

    But even on private trackers, I wouldn't trust the guys running those.

    DMCA : "Give us your logs with all IPs and dowloaded contents and you're off the hook"
    Private tracker guys : well, hum, ok !

    I'd say a VPN is needed any time you go online but that's just me.

    Whether you need a VPN or not, I think depends very much on which country you are from. Some countries are more against torrenting than others.

    Hello, torrents are under surveilleance in some european courtries, that is why i guess some people loose interest in it...
