Modern IRC?

...i'm getting speeds around 500KB/s. Is this normal for XDCC channels or i'm doing something wrong like not port forwarding or something? I'm currently using mIRC...

I'm also learning how to use MIRC and XDCC. There's a youtube tutorial here that says the speed you're getting is normal for XDCC at about the ten minute mark. I get about the same speeds, also.

I guess the low speeds (compared to usenet) are normal using XDCC and as long as you connect to the bot you don't need port forwarding. It's still usefull anyway but not the ideal replace for my free ipv6 xsnews account.
