Recommendable Proxy Service

Despite having worked with (not played with) computers for 25 years, I am constantly failing with OpenVPN http://www.trilightzone.org/. As soon as I enter my user name and password, it crashes.

So ... I am looking for a reliable, easy to use for a non-noob, and secure proxy service.

Any recommendations from those a bit more knowledgeable than I?

Need a little more info to be any kind of help. Error messages? What OS? TUN/TAP? etc

Personally I'm more keen on running openvpn on cheap off-shore VPSes vs bigger (read:US) commercial providers or AWS instances.
