    how do I decode bak files what program does this best

    It's hard to give a straight answer, because BAK files are generally automatic backups created by a program, so that you can restore the original if a change goes wrong.

    Telling us which program produced the file and why you want to "decode" it would go a long way.

    The easiest way to open a BAK file is to double-click on it and let your PC decide which default application should open the file.

    bak files almost use for backup file and using .bak extension,but .bak extension also using by other too many files like linux file , (MRDS) database file and some other , now its depend you on which file do you want decode it....
