Thread: Caught torrenting a thing. What's the best way to stay private online?

VPN has worked well in the past

FWIW I've been using Private Internet Access without any ISP issues so far, but I'm a noob, so maybe I'm just getting lucky.

Either get a VPN or switch to Usenet.

To my knowledge a seedbox is a good way to protect yourself. Use a secure ftp program to get your items off your seedbox.

Seedbox with a good secure ftp program to transfer stuff off of it.

I primarily use that and a correctly configured filezilla and have never had any problems in going on 5 years now...

Alternatively for the stretch of time my seedbox was having issues I set up a virtual machine to use private internet access vpn and it did the job pretty well...

A good seedbox that has an encrypted connection will work great. Never had an issue. Some will also give you a vpn through your seedbox to use as well for your home connection. Keep in mind some ISPs will still throttle FTP bandwidth, so if your downloads to your computer slow down you can usually request a SOCKS proxy to connect through via your seedbox provider.

BTGuard is only moderately usable, and it is greatly frowned upon to use TOR for filesharing media.

Bottom line: pay for a VPN service if you want VPN-level security.

I live with another friend who has been sailing across the cyber sea in search of a good VPN for a long time & every single one he tries out including the free ones end up sucking i saw him one day try out a VPN called Tunnel Bear & he only had it for a short period of time cause he hated it also i know TOR when it comes to torrenting on it with anonymity & all that is not all that good & popular but hey not everything is going to work for everyone i guess.
