Art isn't something that can be defended. It either speaks to you or it doesn't.That said and me being very stupid I shall try.

Springsteen is poet laureate to the working man. He's in time developed into sort of a modern day Pete Seeger.
Whereas his music has always contain a certain power, it's now less inward in it's reflection.

Say what you will, few singers could singularly create such moments.

He's like an articulate Bob Dylan!

His music is connected to and paints a beautiful picture of struggle.

I don't seem to have a problem with his lyrics but rather his whole audio presentation. This must be why I like covers of Springsteen more.

Based on the title, I've seen the anime series. I learned my lesson watching the Death Note and some other less notable movies to avoid live action versions of anime. The advantage of animation in general is that you can get your "actors" to perform their actions precisely to the author's or mangaka's intent, in a simplistic and raw form, and that gets stripped away in live action. I remember enjoying the anime though.

    tl;dr
    No, I never watched them.

I accept your point but in this case I believe that you may be missing out.
Personally I thought the movies had basically everything you'd want in a movie. Again just an opinion and not an assumption of fact.
