Therefore, I also participate in the very normal activity you described, and so does virtually everyone. We shouldn't elevate it to being something distinct because that perpetuates the idea that cracking open a dictionary or web page is a sign of failure/defeat, which discourages the process and collectively narrows our dialogs and monologs to fewer and less flavorful choices.

But my first choice of verbally speaking to someone as opposed to writing or typing makes some of this mute..

Well in my everyday life and the complexity of the English language (The north American one, the other one is just ridiculous!!), being that so many words can be used for the same sort of meaning/context, many words are just not used in my every day life..
I never said it was bad or wrong Macky, and i apologize if that is how it came across, just the responses to your posts take me a little longer to respond too, and not getting the right interpretation of your posts may cause a wrong response being it hostel when it is not necessary??
I also assume in your profession there is some writing formal or business related letters or whatever you would like to call them..And i admire/respect your posts here....
Being semi Retarded/Retired like i am they are long gone now, plus they were more to the point..
Example..
"Give me the money you owe me or i will put you in collections" , that would have been one written a few times....
