Why use Direct CD with a CD-R?

It's for CDRW discs. In fact how did you format that CD-R in order to use Direct CD?
I always use Direct CD with my CD-R's, it just makes them like a large floppy.
I inserted a blank CD-R and format and name the CD.

Then I drag and drop files to the Direct CD icon.
    Open

    or minimized

Roxio uses the UDF file system. Once the disk is full you have the option of closing it to .ISO or leaving it .UDF. When you insert it in another PC that doesn't use Roxio and it's in the .UDF format it will tell you that it needs a .UDF reader and do you want to install the reader. So to do away with the hassle I just close with .ISO.

If I needed another house I would take that bet

I have tested the cd by re-installing over half of the apps. and all is good.
I was surprised also, the only thing that I can think of is that the files are are folders with program+fix and Roxio must have compressed them.
I did try this with .avi's, but it didn't work.
