Thread: Is It Safe To Move A Hdd?

    i was wondering if its safe to move my current hdd to the comp im building for my sister's friend's sister to see if everythign work alright. after i see there is no problem, im gonna installed it on this comp again. is it safe to do so? could i lose ne data doing that?

    I've done it with a slave drive before.
    I wouldn't recommend doing it with the one that has your OS on it.

    yup, this is the one drive that i have. so its the one w/ the os on it. so i cant do it?

    I don't know of any problem that you would run into...
    Just as long as the other computer is able to run all the programs on the drive.
    I still wouldn't wanna try it though.

    yes it possibly, except it might not work all right... cuz everything is setup for your computer.....hardware...(video card, modem, moniter, cd drivers)....

    You can do it, It's possible that you will lose data, but unlikely.

    However to get the other computer completely up and running, you will have to install drivers, so you're going to have multiply drivers on the system, which won't be a big problem.

    driver wont be much of a problem becuz it has same sound and vid card.

    I do it all the time to transfer files from my couputer to my parents. They have an 80 gb and a 15 and i use the 15 to go back and forth.

    Yes, but with him, it's bit different, cuz he's actually using the HDD with the OS on it, so It will be the main drive on both system.

    This can cause some problem, but I really don't think he has to worry about it, It should be fine.

    oh, and i want to do a clean install of window xp but i want to keep the 6 gigs of games i just dled, is this possible? or when i do the installed i would have to wipe everything off the hdd.
