Thread: Irc Whois ?

  1. #1
When I WHOIS myself I get somthin' like this
    [email protected] + IPaddress

So basically it gives away my IP address, my ISP and even what "Web Proxy" I'm on (Forced Transparent Web Proxy), which in turn gives away my City. I WHOIS other ppl and get much less info and a loada crap from others.
Is there ANY way to 'dim' this information aside for a SOCKS4/5 Proxy server (which would be crap on IRC cause half the coolness is the DL Speed)

    Thanks for any help people

It's prob ur ISP name... when im in a DDR channel, my whois is:

    [email protected]

(the #'s are NOT my IP, it was something else.... also ABC was 3 letters...)

It depends on ur ISP. Some people in the chat show their IP, others don't. (like me )

    ********* is [email protected]P * A
    ********* on #*************
********* using irc.*****.net Happy Holidays from the drunks at ******
    ********* (myIpaddress) actually using host
    ********* has been idle 1min 10secs, signed on Tue Dec 02 22:24:59
    ********* End of /WHOIS list.

Is there at least any way to get rid of that myIpaddress bit ???

And I read about that anonx, can someone tell me how thats gonna work?, surely every big antip2p company that hears of this will sue the complete crap outa these guys for IPs ???

    Thanks for info again

depends on what server your using, but on p2pchat.net you can go to #operhelp and request a vhost.

    • Nick : Rperry
    • NickInfo: Rperry has identified for this nick
    • Address : [email protected]

thus, my host is not shown

As far as I know it just reveals your ISP (not your IP or anything that ca be used to pick out you or your computer). There are ways of using proxies with mIRC. Dunno how to set it up but it should be fairly easy.

Some networks choose to mask IP addresses, and some do not. If you happen to be on a certain network that your registered on, I believe that if you get ahold of the network admins, they can mask your IP if they choose.
