Why is it that Xvids and Divx's that are obviously DVD ripped,do not keep the original dvd dimensions (ie:720x480).
They come in at all different settings other than 720x480.
Is it because of the rep program options available?
Can it be kept in the original format?

Exactly mate....the point is to compress it to a good size to transfer around the net.You can keep the same resolution but then you would have to keep around the same amount of data as the dvd to be watchable.Which would make it pointless in ripping it
