With Sharmans (sp?) threats and the RIAA's crap. What is the best alternative to K-lite, or should we all still use K-lite?

thanks.

Sharman just forced the removal of any references to Kazaa Lite on the main website.
K-Lite itself is pretty much alive. You can still use it with no problems.

What about ES5*. It is a great program which provides direct FTP downloads and anonymous proxies .

I would go for using IRC. Newsgroups are crap for binaries because:
• Lots of servers don't cache binares
• You can sometimes get incomplete files
• You need to pay to access a good newsgroup server
*Don't use ES5. it contains malware. I was being sarcastic.

i have 5 day retention at 99.9% completion rate for free on 36000 groups (including the top binary groups)

you can't just make a blanket statement like that and expect it to fly...

edit: also, par and par2 files are used to repair incompletes

If you're looking for music exclusively, i would suggest SoulSeek.
Otherwise, download BitTorrent and take a stroll to Supernova.
