Help!

i finally downloaded a GOOD doom III alpha, it brings me to the main menu

i click on new game and the program exits instantly!

i think something is wrong with this one, can you guys help me out?

Thats perfectly normal, to launch the game you have to hit the tilde key (~). Depending on your keyboard setup it will either be above right shift or left of no.1 at the top. This is only to bring up the console(dos type) where you then type in the name of the map/level you want to play.

Type this exactly in the console :

Edit: Then hit the enter key

map e3\e3_1 (for level 1)
map e3\e3_2 (for level 2)
map e3\e3_3 (for level 3)

P.S You don't have to but, you can also easily edit the doomcfg.cfg to bind your own keys (e.g) "bind w moveforward" . Just open it with notepad and you'll soon see all the relevant keys to rebind.
