Ok well I just need a simple easy to use Video Editing program which will do basic tasks such as cut pieces of video so they can be edited together then music and text be added. Anyone know any simple programs I can use to get started with as I want to make a little video with music that I want etc . . .

VirtualDub - seriously its the easiest
drag drop movie into it, cut
only thing is to go to -video-compression-codexs- choose-divx\xvid etc
-then - save as
or simply save as - old avi file

Adobe Premiere
More complex to use, but really doesn't take much time to figure out the basics such as cutting clips (use Razor tool), adding sound files (import file), and titles (Premiere Titler). If you really want to, it has a bunch of other tools to play with if you have the time to figure them out. Every file that I have tried importing, it has accepted (avi, mpeg, mov, and I think I did a wmv once too).Ok go for it

Ok here's the scoop... I just checked on the wmv and aif, and it looks like I was wrong... sorry about that. As far as i know (and I'm checking in Premiere 6.5), it does not import wmv or asf files. I would still recommend Premiere for editing, but you would just have to take an extra step by converting the wmv or asf to a mpeg, avi, or mov (AVI is by far the best for editing in Premiere). I'm not exactly sure what program you would use to convert the wmv or asf files (maybe tmpgEnc?).

I'd just try Microsoft's Movie Maker, looks pretty simple B) . I personally use Adobe Premier 6.5 and it only has a small learning curve.
