Chat Programs

Hi Guys
A while back they banned chatrooms for MSN in the uk due to the risk of all those sick pervets etc.
However I really enjoyed going through the rooms and making new mates and having a good chat. Ive tried Yahoo which is pretty lame, and I was wandering is there any other free simple chat room basis which has a large community?
Any help would be appreciated

I mainly chat in the hardware.gameworld fourms of KL boards, but was wandering towards the more interactive chat, not posting messages and replieing, but in a conversation with someone.
