    Ok i got my xbox, cable modem, computer, 10/100 ethernet card. Cable is hooked up via usb and also has a cat45 hole, how do i connect them together buying only a cat 45 cable

    Ok, you will need to buy a router,
    connect the modem to the router,

    then output the router to both the pc and the x-box, and all this will be done using ethernet cabling.

    what if i used both the usb and ethernet on my cable can it be its own sorta built in router

    No, modems are not built like a router,
    Routers know exactly where to send the data too, and a cable modem just sends it, to be truthful, I don't even think you could hook up USB and Ethernet at the same time on a modem, you can do either/or, but not both.

    Now you could set your computer up as a router but you will need two Ethernet cards in the pc in order for this to work, be allot cheaper though.

    Although, now that I think of it, you may not, since it's USB and you already have a Ethernet, you maybe able to hook the modem up to your pc using USB, and the pc to the X-box using Ethernet and run the pc as a router for it.
    However, I've never tried this, or seen it tried, so I can't say for sure.

    I'll have to search the net, and see what I can find.
