Default Media Player Won't Work

My default Windows media player works in My Media, but if I try to play audio or video in a playlist, absolutely nothing happens. The Shell works, but not the default player. What's going on?

go to your shared folder, right click an video and then repeat with an audio,

after right click, choose property then where its says open with, hit choose and then choose wmp to open it, then hit apply, ok and see if that works
