Well, today I started work on modding an old server case that i had lying around, cleaning it up and changing LEDs and painting, standard stuff, but thought it would be quite cool to paint all of the inside of the case black as well. Would this be possible? Bearing in mind grounding, earthing etc?

If not completley, then what bits of the inside would be safe to paint?

1 thing b4 you paint it...GUT IT OUT, everything, the powerbox too...then clean it very well and use METAL spraypaint...remember, steel is pourse so some parts will take more coats and longer to dry..

also, use a finish paint, so it doesnt chip

btw, LET IT DRY!! i did a tower for a friend while back, took bout 5-6 total days to die complety

Thats for the inside, right? So you've actually been successful painting the inside of a tower?

You can paint the whole thing.
Your parts are grounded through the power connectors, so that's not an issue.

You are aware that black (especially GLOSS black) is the most unforgiving color of all and every little flaw will show up? Every little speck of dust, drip or fingerprint.

No matter what color you choose, be sure to get all the crap out of the little crevices, nooks and crannies that abound in a case structure. If you don't, the pressure from the spraying will blast them out when you least expect it...

You should have done the humane thing and put it out of it's misery.

Right, thankyou very much, I will be sure to give it a good clean, one final question

This is quite an old tower, and ive been looking at the space for the motherboard to go, it has all the bronze coloured motherboard mounting points, and a few extra holes, it should still be compatible with todays motherboards shouldnt it? ATX style?

Thanks for the help so far

Is it a ATX form factor case?
If so, you should be golden.
If not, you have some work to do.

Hold the motherboard up to the tray and see if the holes fit. Simple yet effective.
