Original Fan Cooler Is That Bad?

hello i have a xp2400+, no Overcloking, with the fan cooler that came in the box with the cpu. So my question is:

i've read so many post about changing the fancooler for a bigger or better one that i'm starting to wonder, is this fan cooler good enough? does it what is supposed to do?
keep the cpu cool and functional for the WHOLE life of the chip...

It should be fine unless it breaks down or something like that.

You can check the temperature of your CPU if you're really concerned.

Does it have many very thin fins ( say that ten times fast&#33 or just 10 or so thicker ones?
If it's the more recent, thin fin version, they are actually quite good.
You can improve it's performance by using a larger fan, but if your temps are reasonable, why bother?

As long as his fan working, np. Just check your temp every now and then.

In a post a few weeks ago I demonstrated that just such a heatsink, kitted out with a 80mm fan, performed identically to my $50 Zalman heatsink.
Unless you decide to push your chip beyond stock timing, your current HS should suffice for the nonce.

Hey, the stock cooler is fine. What is a good small program that can check your CPU temp? Or will my new board come with software?

Your board will probably come with some kinda of diagnostic reading program, just look at the pics and specs.

But then again, I know alot of people just use Motherboard Monitor.

Just google for it, and you will find the livewire or wherever site that hosts it.
