Optimization Made Simple?

Ok, heres the deal, my computer continues to grow slower, no matter what i do. Ive tried to delete files, both with add/remove program and the hard way, sifting through folders. Yet now when i try to do a simple shutdown, programs lockup and unless i sit and play the "click game" the pc won't shutdown.

Basicly im looking for a program that will actually help me, lol. Ive tried to format the HD, but i keep getting an error saying it can't run in safemode. Is this some sort of XP crap?

btw im running a 2.6 P4, 512DDR 160HD GeForce FX 5200 256MB

Have you run antivirus software recently?

When was the last time you defragged your HDD?

Have you used a registry cleaning app such as window washer or JV16 power tools?

I scan about once a week, i defrag every two weeks or more if needed. Oh and yes ive used windows washer 5.0...

Im sure the problems are all linked to one insignificant thing that is creating a domino effect.First one to figure out what gets a cookie, lol.

While trying to play sluth there, ive noticed theres always a crapload of apps running. Though for me, sorting themout is tedious,

Well, if theres a huge amount of spyware, it cant be doing your sytem any good, attempted to remove it?

Mate you could tri something like norton windoctor too.Its pretty good at keeping things in order save you messing around to much.

Nope don't think so.
Sounds like user error.
SpySweeper is an excellent program, far better than Spybot IMO.
Have you looked on the FastTrack network?
Ultra WinCleaner is a good app for general maintenance.

Bite the bullet, visit BlackViper, then reduce the unwanted startups to a minimum.

You may be best served by a simple format and reinstall at this point.
Then make a bigger effort to maintain your system.
