i find emule is good, and bit-torrent and shareza both have a good review.

It really depends what type of thing you want, and how much effort you want to put in to getting it.

If for some reason I had to pay, I buy into a news groups otherwise it goes
news groups > irc > bittorrent > emule
in that order for me anyway
