My HD1 temp is now 50*C and the little icon indicated a flame which must mean it's too hot.
It's normally around 43*C mark why has it shot up when I've made no changes to my pc?

..Oh and due to the temp reaching 50*C on a non clocked machine does that warrent a good enough reason for me to start shitting myself

Forgive me.. I'm totally new to temps and stuff.

    merry xmas.

    Please refrain from defecating.
We already have hobbes to do that, should we desire.

What were you doing when your HDD temp "shot up"?
Surely the machine wasn't just sitting idle?

We have no idea about what kind of PC you have so it's difficult to make any suggestions.
My mother's eMachine cruises along quite happily at 50 degC, day in and day out.

The fact that yours runs at that temp doesn't seem particularly worrisome, but the sudden ( unexplained) temp spike is a bit of a concern...
