I would recommend that a user "purchases" anti-virus software from one of the leading companies. Other programs probably are not as good.

Anything you purchase AV-wise will be HOPELESSLY out-of-date by the time you install it, so if you go that route you MUST update the AV software you just bought to even have the semblance of protection.

And if you're buying something like that AFTER getting a virus/trojan, chances are installing the AV software could be a nightmare. Some viruses ACTIVELY ATTACK AV programs to prevent being removed.
