As I wrote before some movies (AVI) won't play. Using WinMPG Video Convert, I tried to convert the movies from AVI to MPG1. It failed. I learned that there was no audio present. Is this the reason the movies won't play? Also, why is there no audio assocciated with the movies. Did I incorrectly download or are some movies (the newest ones) posted with no no audio? I would appreciate the help.

Looks like you don't have the proper audio codecs installed. I suspect that you don't have AC3.
Install the K-Lite Codec Pack.
If that doesn't help, then use the GSpot tool and post the information it gives here.

I have the K-Lite codec installed . I used G-spot and under the Audio, the indication is that there are no audio channels.
