Thread: Image File Type

    hi, guys....i need some overall opinions
    i've used a few kinds like bin/cue, mds, iso and etc. so i wanna know which is the most popularly used.

    what kind of image do u guys prefer and why?
    also, where can i get the "responsible" software?

    bin & cue seems to be most popular, mainly for the reason that you can break the 700MB barrier with little problem, as they are
    measured by time length, much the same way audio cd sizes are measured.

    for creating & burning bins, isos, or any disc image, I prefer Alcohol 120%.
    handles them all quite well, and it can mount the image
    to a virtual drive, if you'd like to test it before you burn it, or if you can't find a 'no-cd' crack, or if you just like it that way.

    I&#39;ll second that. They&#39;re smaller and they don&#39;t require a cue sheet to burn.

    why would i wanna break the 700mb barrier? pls explain a bit further

    edit: btw, i intend on creating images of cds to store into hard disk. i&#39;m not gonna burn them

    i prefer to use nero&#39;s .nrg to make image files of cd&#39;s:



    i am currently downloading a copy of a unattended win xp pro with sp1 installation and i will convert that into a .nrg nero image aswell. they work great because with image drive enabled in nero it works as a virual drive.

    i like Alcohol&#39;s .mds because it can copy protections - useful for me because i prefer to run images from my hard-drive than use my original CDs

    really depends on what u r gonna use the image for....

    but alcohol is best for copy protected stuff

    so .mds, yeah

    clone cd was good but is no longer in dev...too bad
