Thread: Avi To Vcd

    is an AVI file of 700 mb is better quality than a 700 mb mpg ?
    because when i d/l a movie of 700 mb in avi format and i convert it in mpg it takes like double place and becomes 1.3 gig !
    for example i d/l

    A flew over a cuckoo's nest.avi = 700 mb
    but if i convert it it now takes 2 cds...

    help me !

    Yes. Its all to do with the type of compression used. Unfortunately u'll just have to put up with swapping discs halfway through.

    That's what happens with encoding. You can't really encode something to make it smaller. What program did you use? If you used TMPGenc and chose normal quality, then it should have only gone up to about 800MB or so. Give TMPGenc a try if you already haven't. If your having problems with encoding visit http://www.dvdrhelp.com and you can find most of your answers there.

    To answer your question: Usually a 700MB mpg is not better than a 700 MB avi. It can be but it depends on who encoded that mpg and what they used to encode that mpg.

    Of course, if you had a DVD burner, DVD-R(w)&#39;s and knew a way to convert VCD&#39;s-DVD&#39;s then you don&#39;t have to. But i&#39;m still experimenting with burning VCD&#39;s to DVD&#39;s.

    and what is the best way to convert that 700 mb movie and not loosing any quality in the image and sound ?
