CDex isn't a bad progie for ripping, since it allows EAC/Lame, but 128? Are you kidding? Comparing 128 to 192 is like comparing dialup to broadband. They will both get you there, but why not take the best route? :music1:

Really I never noticed any difference. Maybe when you have the Enhancer and 4Front headphones plugins on Winamp it makes the sound better you notice no difference.

I have never rippsed a CD yet, but I will do when I get time.

I used to use Winamp 2.8X

But I have just started using Foobar and its sound quality seems much clearer to me and I like the way I can have several playlists loaded up and swap between them, and see which playlist I am playing right now and then when I call it up next day the playlists are all there ready to go.

Thsi is what I asked the guys at winamp to do, but they never did.

You never know the name of the playlist you are playing in winamp cos it does not show anywhere.

Just wish Foobar would look a bit better.

I use EAC for ripping, just like in the Pinned Topic.
But, sometimes it fails, i have some very "well used" cd's and EAC just wont get the data out of it. But when it works the files are good,
if i want perfect, i rip them to *.wav
Then i use Audiograbber (the Tagging is cool from the net) with Lame.
Or, i use Steinberg Wavelab 4.0g. with Lame.

Most of the Tagging is done with Tag & Rename and
organising is done with OrangeCD.

[SIZE=1]I only started ripping CDs about a year ago and used to use Musicmatch, which I soon realised was a bag of shite for a number of reasons. I now use Audiograbber (with LAME) and winamp, but I have noticed that a lot of people prefer EAC. What are the main differences, and are there any major differences in quality?
