I too am too lazy to google, but,

I know that between raid 0, and raid 1, one of them takes say, two discs, and writes the same thing to both of them, so you have a mirrored backup incase the primary goes down.

The other writes one file, in different sections to both discs. Think of it this way, regular IDE drives, and putting info on them, is like dealing a deck of cards with one hand. with the Raid configuration, its like taking two hands, and dealing out the cards, thus while one hand is throw the card out, (or while one hard drive just got stuff written to it on a spin), the other hand is grabbing another card, (the other hard drive is getting the next part of the data.) Thus, you get faster writes, rereads, and overall performance.

    Did that make any sense?

Yes, then something like hyper threading tech. so a hard drive running at 15,000 rpm with a raid 1 config would be really fast.???

Does your mobo have to be able to handle a raid 0 or raid 1 hard drive then???
