they arent totally useless...well not all of them. download accelerator is good because you can pause ur downloads and also stop them and restart your computer while downloading then continue at a later time which the internet explorer download manager cannot do. But if u download from p2p programs only then it wont make any difference at all.

NO, far from it, they are very useful.

they automatically find the fastest servers

they can download from multiple servers all at once, so if one server gets busy it switches to another

you can (usually) pause/resume downloads

etc....etc

NO Completely the opposite, Download accelerators are usless for people with 56k's

But the faster you get the more you need a download accereator.

For example.

website xyz allows only 100kb/s download per port due to bandwidth limitations.
If you have 56k you donwload will be maxed out with 1 port.

But with cable or 1500 dsl 1 port(100kb/s) is not enough to max out you download so if you open up 2 ports (DAP can open up about 10 ports) then you can download at a max of 200kb/s. And 3 ports = 300kb/s, and so on up to 10 ports.

Flashget isnt as good as DAP.

DAP's much more simple, flashget is just cluted with usless shit.
