Thread: Wires Wires And More Wires

If the mobo has onboard audio, you dont need them. Its only if you want to enable the front audio jacks.

They can be a great pain in the ass so if you cant figure it out just leave it and just use the normal way of using the sound card.

yeah i can see that, and i have that pic in the manual that came with the mobo, but i dont know how to interpret it really. i have 7 connectors, and 4 have headphone stuff on the, the pic says nothing as far as headphones go, unless some of those letters are code for headphones...
i just dont understand the pic i guess
if anyone could explain it that would be great
PS sorry for my remark earlier, i'm sorry

    mic data = 1
    mic vcc = 2
    gnd = 4
    ear r (x2) = 5 and 6 on the cables its normanly marked + / - stick + to 5
    ear l (x2) = 9 and 10 on the cables its normanly marked + / - stick + to 9

The bottom 11,12,13 and 14 are for what its say's SPDIF only (digital sound),its the 2 pin cable on MOST Cd/Cdrw's these days
11 and 12 goes from here to the Cd/Cdrw.
13 and 14 to the front panel (if you have it on the front).

See http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=92045 then maybe "clocker" half way down.

S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) is a standard audio transfer file format. It is usually found on digital audio equipment such as a DAT machine or audio processing device.

    thanks!
in pins 5+6 and 9+10 there are small orange "jumpers", is it okay to take them out to be replaced by the ear r and ear l plugs??

Sorry just come on again(think I am glued to this machine),YES they are only there to able the rear port don't forget you will lose them it's either the rear or front not both.
I would mark in the manual where they go in case you want to reverse this plus get the rear one's working before you swap that way you know at least you have sound.
