 As a complete and utter novice am I doing something wrong cause when I burn downloaded movies to a CD-R and try to play them on a new Sony DVD player the error message reads "no audio output". Is there an answer from you wizzards out there?

Most movies are in a compressed format that your DVD player does not recognise. Most tend to be in a DIVX format and I believe KISS are one of the few who make a compatable player for this format.
