i'm thinking of buying 1 of those usb 2 or firewire hdd enclosures for $30 ish. i'll use it on my wd 120 gb. i have some qs:
    1. where will it get it's power? through the usb/firewire or do i need a separate power input?
    2. do those make the hdd really hot? that's bad

and where can i get the best deal on a 3.5' hdd enclosure?

the power comes from the usb itself and if ur gonna enclose ur hdd u better buy a 80mm fan and attach it to the top of the enclosure to cool it down

i almost busted my Maxtor 80GB as it reached 80C degrees....

then i put it back to the case without the case

Should be fine if it has proper ventalation and has a fan in it.

    Try that one.

Oh and btw, most External Enclosures make you plug into a wall socket, like the one above does, because USB cant carry 5/12V DC.
