    From your computer to the modem you have a lan cable (local area network) sort of a small home network, with this you could get speeds of 22Mbps but that is just between two computers which are connected with a cat-5 cable(lan)
    From beyond your modem or router you just get the speed you ISP gives you

    hope that made some sense

    sounds interesting. I have one question though. I have 2 computers that share the same router. How can i transfer my files on one computer to the other computer. Most of my files are mp3&#39;s and movies and i dont want to burn to cd&#39;s

    so ur not on hub ? or networked togther ?
    cant u use windows sharing option ?
    u can use icq
    it is real fast .. i use it altho im on a LAN faster than the windows sharing itself

    Im not quite sure as I never used a network myself, but i think with XP they made it pretty easy.

    note: I use a german windows version so I most likely wont name everything correctly
    open your system controls
    go to the network connections and on the left it should say something like setup a new homenetwork then follow the assistant. this should do it
