What is the best image editor? Is it Adobe Photoshop? What do you recommend?

Adobe is good for the advanced graphic designer.

If I were you I would get FireWorks frist (or Paint Shop Pro) and get the hang of it, the slowy introduce yourself to Photoshop.

My daughter is hopefully going to study Art & Design and Graphic Design at college next September, while my son (who was 14 on Friday) wants to study IT and art/graphics amongst other stuff.
We have PaintShop Pro v8 installed on two computers (v7 on the third) and I bought two cheap graphics tablets last weekend.
They both want me to install Photoshop, which I could do (v7), but I really don't know if there's any advantage in doing so, as all the plugins work in PSP.

A couple of months ago I would've said PSP, but now I'm not so sure!
if your font size is this small i'll add you to my ignore list because you're wasting my time, OK?

Photoshop is AWESOME!! I haven't used illustrator much, but that's not image editing, it's vector graphics.

If you're worried about price or not doing something illegal, try the Gimp.

Paint Shop Pro is good, but I much prefer Photoshop.
