Celerystalksme = man, you seriously need to look over your writing before you post stuff like that. You were right on about everything, until you started talking about GC and simple plan...

"and im sick of hearing people saying that good charlotte and simple plan and green day aren't punk...they are most probally more punk than the people who are calling them pop punk or shit like that"

No way. Simple plan and good charlotte is bullshit, just pitiful excuses for music. Theyre just a bunch of poseurs, doing it for the $$. Look at GC, they bitch about rich and famous people, but take a random guess at what they are... theres even a good chance they don't write their own lyrics .

Now lets take a look at Simple Plan. You say theyre "more punk than people who call them pop/punk", yet they have a song about how "god must hate me". Thats proof right there that they have no balls, and write their songs for little girls. Bullshit I tell ya, bullshit.

Then you say "look at AFI...mtv's new claim to being into punk music"

Ya, AFI went down the shitter on their new cd, for it is god awful, yet I want you to download a little old cd that they put out a while ago, called "shut your mouth and open your eyes". Yes AFI sold out, yet they put out some pretty good music, before they lost their balls in a horrible recording accident, which made them put out Sing The Sorrow....

And 1 last thing, I want everyone who thinks they know two shits about what real punk music is, to download the Paint It Black cd "CVA". Now I pick this cd for 2 reasons...

1). It's got 17 songs on it, and its 18 minutes and 35 seconds long, so even if you are on dial-up, you have no excuse not to get it.

2). It's a refreshing blast of what punk music should be, not what Drive-Thru records is putting out.....

and just for a random fact, the people in simple plan used to be in a pennywise cover band (their name escapes me at the moment), so even before simple plan, the peoplee were putting out shitty music hahaha.
yet if green day and good Charlotte didn't make the top 40 you wouldn't be saying their shit

FFS people, let's just label everything and wrap it up in a nice, shiney fxcking package. :music1:

You don't have to label music, just like you don't have to label people. You do it because you're judgemental, enough of all this "I'm standing out from the crowd" bullshit, you end up being just like everyone else. Try spending more time being an individual then a "punk" or a "goth" or a "prep."

I like punk/emo kind of stuff.. Right now I'm really on a few bands:

My Chemical Romance
Matchbook Romance
From Autumn to Ashes
A Static Lullaby
Armor for Sleep
Thrice
The Used - a few songs anyway

But I listen to the old stuff too:

NOFX
Bad Religion
Ramons

I'm very open to pretty much all music but this type is my "thing" so to say..
Time never lightend this burden I bear,
You failed to see me, with empty stares,
A book being written, still truth untold,
Buried in lies, but now, unfolds

Hey, I have one of those tops...my mum got it for me...I think they're kinda cool. What are you trying to say that if he had gone out and got some "proper" punk clothes that would have been "punk"?

Erm...don't quite think you can claim to know what everyone on the entire board listens to cely. I agree with what you sat about punk not being about the music though. I think it's sad when a new musical genre comes along (emo for example) and people are more interested in how to dress emo than actually listen to the music. The fashion side of it should just be something extra, imo, you can "dress punk" and still listen to beethoven or whatever.

How could you say that when you don't even know what a "real punk" is. Do you mean a real sterotypical punk that dresses the way you'd imagine them to dress, gets in the pit as much as you would think they would, and act like you would think they would?

You can break any/all of those ideals and still be a real punk. It's not about conforming to sterotypes. A real punk wouldn't even care if they fit the sterotypes, or if you saw em as a being a punk. They do it for themselves.

Some say "punk" is dead, but you can't kill an ideal.

Corporations may tend to stretch, and pull the ideal for their own greedy purposes but still it lingures on.

You can't destory a way of life.
